So, what actually SSL is? it is known as Secure Sockets Layer, representing a very secure protocol which provides us a secure connections in a public network. This new protocol uses a cryptographic communications to guarantee privacy and authentication between server and client.

As you get connect by this kind of protocol to a SSL site, the protocol is confirming you that the answering server is who he say he is.
Websites without SSL [secure socket layer] could be victims of phishing, or eavesdropping, who keeps on looking for the information that you are using. This is the main reason that all the Shopping sites, Internet banking sites and web mails are using this kind of SSL for client's connections.

Google offers us SSL connections for Gmail and Google Documents. Now by this new Google SSL search you can directly get connect with the server.

The difference for searching with SSL equipped search is you will need to add "S" after http in the link of google search. So, it will look like this, just check it out. https://www.google.com
